What is isla del tiburon?

Isla del Tiburon, also known as Tiburon Island, is a large island located in the Gulf of California, off the coast of Sonora, Mexico. It is the largest island in the region and has an area of approximately 1,200 square miles (3,100 square kilometers).

The island is home to the Seri people, an indigenous group who have lived on the island for thousands of years and continue to maintain their traditional way of life. The Seri people rely on fishing, hunting, and gathering for their daily sustenance and cultural practices.

The island is also home to a variety of unique plant and animal species, including the Tiburon Island shrew, which is endemic to the island and found nowhere else in the world.

Due to its remote location and the presence of the Seri people, access to the island is restricted and visitors must obtain permission from the Seri community before visiting. As a result, the island remains relatively untouched and is considered a valuable cultural and ecological resource.
